Denton Twilight Tunes: B-Luv and The Money Makers

The Denton Main Street Association invites you to spend every Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in May and June at the Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn to enjoy these FREE concerts.  The 2012 series features an eclectic assortment of music for all listeners. Bring your friends or the family, get a meal-to-go from one of the many downtown eateries, bring a blanket or chairs, and enjoy an evening of great live music as the sun sets over downtown Denton. Thursday Twilight Tunes is held on the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn, 110 W. Rail Ready

DCTA Invites the Community to “Rail Ready” Presentation to Promote Rail Safety Denton, TX - As part of the Denton County Transportation Authority’s rail safety efforts, DCTA is holding a free community-wide “Rail Ready” safety presentation on Thursday, May 17th. DCTA staff will hold two presentations simultaneously; one for adults and one for children. The presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Denton Transit Center which is located at 604 E. Hickory in Denton. The “Rail Ready” presentation is based on Operation Lifesaver, a national rail safety program. This rail safety message focuses on staying off the tracks and teaching community members to “Look, Listen & Live.” DCTA staff will educate audience members the importance of paying extra attention around rail corridors and the dangers of trespassing. Those interested in attending this community-wide presentation are encouraged to RSVP to Rusty Comer at rcomer@dcta.net or by calling 972-221-4600.

Summer Theatre Camps (ages 4-18)

A creativity camp for ages 4-6.  The first camp (Texas Tall Tales)  is June 4-8 from 9am to 12 noon.  The second camp (The Wonderful World of Dr. Seuss)  is August 6-10 from 9am to 12 noon. All camps are held at The PointBank Black Box Theatre located at 318 E. Hedric Petting Zoo

The Hedrick Exotic Animal Petting Zoo will be in Northeast Texas during the month of May.  The company provides petting zoo animals at the Texas State Fair every year and they will be at Smith Brothers comples on Highway 35 in Denton from May 16-20.   Hours for all displays will be 10am "til dark.  General admission is $1.00 per person.  Local schools have been invited to participate for free by scheduling field trips on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Firdays. Also, military and law enforcement (proper I.D.) are welcome as free guests.  Any questions should be directed to the Petting Zoo Manager Monte McClurg 620-200-3061
