Bridezilla and Mark I

In February 2012, the department will present a new play festival with two original shows in repertory, Mark I and BrideZilla. Mark I, written by graduate student Rene Serradet Fuller, tackles the difficult subject of a senseless act of violence. When a shooter enters His Holy Vessel Baptist Church, taking the lives of several people, it’s up the pastor and his wife to discover the true cause of such a tragedy. After learning that the shooter is their lost son, they must come to grips with how their past decisions led to such devastation. Written by North Texas playwrights Natalie Gaupp and Steven McGaw, BrideZilla is a new eccentric one-act comedy. As a part of his graduate thesis project, director Nick Irion will lead the production through the workshop process, which will include discussions with the playwrights, staged readings and a full production. Both shows will run, alternating nightly, Feb. 23-March 4, 2012. Performances: Bridezilla Feb. 23, 25 and March 2, 4;  Mark I Feb. 24, 26 & March 1, 3.
